| A long, long time ago, a song was sung, and the world was created. No, that isn't right. This specific world was created. There are others as well, and many times, a song has been sung. And all of these songs were cacophonous and imperfect, but it was always only one song for each world. But into this specific song, this specific world, an intruder has come, singing another song. And the melody has broken, having gone discordant beyond measure, spreading a vile illness across this world far exceeding anything that came before. An illness that none could fight, no matter how much they tried. The face of the world has been changed yet again. Evil has risen, and few remain who can still fight it. And less still remember the cause... Yet there is still hope, for Eru, the One, who was there for each song that has ever been sung, be it that of a world or that of a single being, heard the discordance. And remembering those whose songs are still unharmed, he made their songs be heard again, reawakening them on the ruined world as he remembered them last. Not all of them hail from this world, or even a world similar to this one. But all have been brought for one reason: To live and explore and settle, and by this bring back order to the world so its melody will be strengthened that it may expel the intruder. |
